For Amanda Dare, style is a lot more than just what you put on. It is a way to express who you are.

The Louisville-centered enterprise mentor and fashion designer guiding the boutique The New Blak, and Female-Owned Wallet, said women are constantly at the forefront of style. And she desired her shops to lean into that craze.

“We required to outline the pattern. We did not want it to be about rapidly trend, human or environmental degradation. We wished it to be about moral output of clothes, procedure of human beings and sustainable elements,” Dare stated. “We wished it to be about women’s empowerment.”

Dare opened The New Blak, a nearby fashion manufacturer that encompasses feminism, sustainability and ethics, in March of 2015 and Female-Owned Wallet, a feminist gift store and NuLu Walking Tour, in August 2020. She designed the title just after the development “blank is the new black.”
